Its age is very variable, placed in a temporal arc ranging from 3 to 230 million years (Mesozoic era, Triassic period) and lto most of the gemological material used in jewelry has between 20 and 40 million years.

The Freshwater Pearl is composed of calcium carbonate and born from the bivalve mollusc called Hyriopsis schlegeli who lives in lakes and rivers.
