Necklace Crisocolla neck

The Crisis is a copper hydrate sylicate, with rather variable gemmological characteristics, depending on the silica content. Its name comes from the Greek chryso (gold) and kolla (colla) as it was a material used for gold welding.

It forms in copper deposits as secondary mineral, in the so-called "oxidation cap", often associated with malachite and blue that are two copper carbonates.
